THE WARNING

It’s that restless time
Between spring and summer
And I couldn’t tell you
Though I wonder
What is in your mind
And what pulls you under
But you wouldn’t tell me
Do you hear that thunder…
Well, it’s been rainin’
and it’s only starting to pour
You know I need to dry off
I can’t take anymore

I heard the warning
I don’t know what it’s about
But I know, I know I just can’t be there
So by the morning
I had to get out
And by now you’re so far gone
I really don’t care

Could be on the street
Ignoring passers-by
it’s a silly place
to feel shy
but it’s stupid small
this neighborhood
in my memory
you don’t look so good

but there’s no pain with you
maybe I kicked the habit?
Or maybe my heart doesn’t want
just doesn’t want you to have it

I heard the warning
I don’t know what it’s about
But I know, I know I just can’t be there
So by the morning
I had to get out
and by now you’re so far gone
You know I really can’t care

I can’t care
